Marketing Tips to Love This Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is one of the more prolific events of the year when it comes to marketing. You might think that it would only be a prominent day for restaurants, florists, candy shops and other directly related businesses. But this is not true. Rather, all small businesses can leverage Valentine's Day marketing strategies to boost their traffic and engage customers.

Let's take a look at what you could be doing to prepare to use  Valentine's Day as a marketing opportunity.

Attracting prospects: Keep it sweet and simple
The Huffington Post published a blog post from Gabriel Shaoolian, founder of the digital marketing agency Blue Fountain Media, regarding how businesses can incorporate Valentine's Day themes into their February marketing strategies. The author suggests identifying a funny, earnest or informative tidbit that connects the dots between the brand and the holiday. He also notes, social media is probably the best environment for these types of initiatives, but businesses need to prioritize imagery and strong calls to action to be successful in these efforts, he says.

If you choose to use email marketing, Shaoolian notes that interactive attachments built on the imagery of the holiday ─ such as hearts or roses ─ can help drive recipients toward a click. If you give your audience a special offer for the holiday such as a discount, that can build conversions even higher.

Customer engagement: It's all about love
Romance is in the air, and you can capitalize by showing your customers that you love them. Take Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to exhibit your appreciation for customers. Here are a few ways you can boost customer engagement this Valentine's Day:
  • Cucumber Marketing, an advertising firm, recommends hosting a contest on social media in which customers post pictures of themselves on their Valentine's Day dates, Then you can invite social media visitors to vote for the best-dressed couple, or another superlative that is aligned with the specific brand.
  • AddThis, a social media management technology company, explains that a simple gesture, such as sending your customers a traditional Valentine through social media, email or another platform, can go a long way toward ensuring they feel appreciated. When they feel valued, they will be more engaged.

In 2017, the National Retail Federation, an association devoted to retailers, estimated that more than half of American consumers planned to celebrate Valentine's Day, and spend an average of nearly $140 for a total of $19.7 billion. Don't miss an opportunity to grab your piece of the pie.
Happy Valentine's Day to you ─ and your business!
